Hunter Student Support Services

Our Student Support Personnel includes: the school counselor, the school social worker, the school psychologist, and the school nurse.  The school nurse, and the school psychologist are assigned by the district and typically have one or two designated days at our school.

Hunter has a full-time school counselor, Laura Ayers who has been at Hunter since 2008. She works with students, families, staff, administrators, and community members to support student learning, achievement, and future career success.  I meet with students who need help dealing with emotions or solving problems.  Ms. Ayers focuses on social-emotional skills as well as college and career readiness in guidance lessons in all Kindergarten through 5th grade classes. She is also the coordinator for the Intervention Support Team, which helps teachers develop strategies and supports students to be more successful with academics and behavior at school.

Suzanne Fray is the full time School Social Worker at Hunter Elementary for the past 19 years. She works closely with all the instructional staff as well as the Counselor, the Assistant Principal and the Principal. Mrs. Fray also works closely with Hunter families to ensure that all children are equipped to learn by removing barriers for attendance and to make sure children and families have their basic needs met. She speaks with students and families to make sure all children have good attendance. She also partners with local agencies and resources that can help families with food, clothing, school supplies and other needs that families may have. She facilitates both the Hunter Elementary Food Bag Program and the Attendance Matters Program.
